MINERAL COUNTY

Snuggled up against the California border, Mineral County got its name from the numerous mining communities that sprang up in the desert like Mina and Luning. Walker Lake sits in Mineral County and is home to the Walker Lake Indian Reservation. Moving south you enter Hawthorne where the Army used to maintain a large ammunition depot. From the pine tree forests of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest to the desert mountains of the Gillis Range, Mineral County offers filmmakers a variety of enviroments.
