Just
east of Carson City along U.S. 50 - The Lonelist
Highway in America - begins Lyon County which is
steeped in western history and American filmmaking.
From the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest on its
southern border, one can trek across a vast
high-altitude desert past historic Fort Churchill to
the Lahonton Resevoir in the northeast corner of the
county. Wild horses still roam the desert mountains
and canyons which are dotted with old mines and
trails. Little wonder that movie companies have used
Lyon County as a location for decades.
