Located
in the north/central portion of the state, Lander
County has only two towns that are 95 miles apart.
The major industries are mining, agriculture and
ranching. The Shoshone Mountain Range splits the
county and Mt. Lewis (9680'), outside of Battle
Mountain, is home to an FAA radar installation.
Austin sits perched in the Toiyabe Range at the edge
of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
