Located
near the geographical center of the state, Eureka is
the only county which has not appeared on the silver
screen. This is a tragedy because the historic mining
town of Eureka is one of the best preserved in the
state. The citizens of this small hamlet have taken
pride in their heritage and spent a great deal of
time and money to restore portions of the town - most
notably is the Eureka Opera House. Unfortunately, the
town's remote location discourages filmmakers from
exploiting the county's magnificent scenery and
genuine historic beauty.
