Although
one of the most desolate counties in Nevada,
Esmeralda embodies the historic image of the Old West
where pioneers relied upon one another to survive.
From the edge of Death Valley in the south to the
Inyo National Forest on the northwest border,
Esmeralda offers filmmakers a wealth of varied
scenery including mines, mountains, deserts and, of
course, historic Goldfield. While tourists on U.S. 95
hope to pass through the county quickly, some movie
people have discovered the majesty and beauty of
Esmeralda.
