Just south of Carson City
is Douglas County whose border follows the California
stateline from Topaz Lake to Lake Tahoe. Although one of
the smallest counties in the state, Douglas is home to
Genoa, the oldest settlement in Nevada, and the twin
towns of Minden and Gardnerville. Ranching and farming
are the mainstays of the economy, but the county extends
up to the Lake Tahoe Basin and includes Stateline, Round
Hill, Zephyr Cove and Glenbrook.
