This
county in western Nevada is known throughout the
world as the home of the Comstock Lode and where
Samuel Clemens took the nom de plume, "Mark
Twain." The town of Virginia City was put on the
map (literally) by the television program
"Bonanza." Another famous landmark of the
county is the now closed Mustang Ranch brothel. Just
thirty minutes from Reno or Carson City, Storey
County straddles magnificent mountains and canyons
where wild horse herds roam freely and the western
culture still lives today.
