The Hersey 4-Way holster is a patented belt slide holster for automatic pistols. It is symmetrical, and therefore is both left-handed and right-handed. It is also invertible... the gun pocket is double-ended; inverting the holster changes the cant of the pistol from strong-side carry, to cross-draw carry. The name 4-Way derives from being able to carry in either of these modes... left or right-handed. Four basic modes in any position on the belt.

In 1995, Fred Hersey, the inventor, modified the earlier version to include a convenient one-handed reholster capability, as well as some cosmetic changes.

Size A is the first size to be ready for marketing and fits the Colt government model 45 automatic. The 4-Way is neutral to slide, barrel, and/or grip length, and single vs. double-stack magazines; hence size A will also fit all the many variations, calibers, and derivatives of the 1911 government model. As luck would have it, Size A will also fit a number of other similar sized pistols.
